Understanding Lakes in Canada

Lake Pulse” is a program  that targets common environmental problems that affect Canadian lakes by creating and populating a national lake health database.

It aims to improve understanding, management and conservation of freshwater resources.

In 2018, the Lake Pulse goal is to sample 232 lakes in 7 provinces (sediments, water quality, and more).

In British Columbia,  the B.C. Lake Stewardship Society has helped groups and individuals learn to monitor water quality and to conduct aquatic plant surveys in lakes since 2009.  Check out the BCLSS website.

Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation is sponsoring a grant program for Invasive Mussel Monitoring in B.C. lakes in 2018, thanks to a generous grant from the BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy.
