Harvesting the Rain for Outdoor Use: Video

Click to view SSIWPA’s video “Harvesting the Rain for Outdoor Use”.

The video was created to demonstrate one way that a local Salt Spring Islander set up a rainwater harvesting system from a metal roof, to store 3,400 US gallons for outdoor uses during seasonal droughts.

Would you like to tour folks around your own rainwater harvesting system? Contact us to be a host on September 25, 2022 – the upcoming Rainwater Harvesting Tour on Salt Spring Island!

Did you already add some rainwater storage since January 1, 2021? Tell us about your storage volume – Take the Water Storage Challenge!

View the Watershed Map of Salt Spring Island (CRD, 2018) to find out what watershed you are living in, and consider storing more rain to help all those living in your watershed to thrive during the increasing seasonal drought severity that is predicted over the coming years.

Thank you for all you are doing to conserve and create a “Living Water Smart” reality on Salt Spring Island.
