Groundwater Licensing in B.C.

In 2016 provincial legislation for Water Sustainability changed, and one of the changes was about Groundwater Licensing and Groundwater Protection regulations.

All non-domestic users of groundwater in the province now need to apply for a licence for their water use.

Wait times for application processing are long.

The date by which you need to have applied to be considered an existing user (very likely to be permitted to continue current usage rates)

is two years away: March 1, 2022.
