View PostThe POLIS Water Sustainability Project co-authors Rosie Simms and Oliver Brandes have just released a succinct evaluation report that brings together the most important aspects of freshwater sustainability initiatives that have transpired through the last ten years in British Columbia.
This inspirational read charts a clear ten-step call to action for indigenous, local and provincial government leaders and their support and allies, as well as citizens and stewardship groups across the province.
For all islanders, and especially for those involved in co-operating to collaboratively guide freshwater sustainability on Salt Spring Island, this is a useful piece of work.
The Annual Report (2017) demonstrates the framework that SSIWPA provides for coordinated freshwater resource planning, policy development and recommendations to its member agencies.
In 2017, SSIWPA steering committee members, working group members, agency staff support advisors and SSIWPA coordinator teamed up to revise Terms of Reference, and to integrate and account for several milestones in the Integrated Freshwater Management Program that were achieved by member agency projects and the work of dedicated consultants.
